Vowos Chooses Matrox X.mio3 and DSX LE4 SDI Video Cards for XMV Curation Tool

Polish Broadcasters TVN and ZPR Media Group rely on Matrox hardware and Vowos software for acquisition, review, playout and archiving

MONTREAL — Feb. 18, 2015 — Matrox® Video today announced Vowos LLC has begun delivering its XMV software, running on the latest Matrox SDI video cards, to Poland’s leading broadcaster TVN and to ZPR Media Group, one of Poland’s fastest growing media groups.

XMV is a curation tool designed for media workflows. It provides a centralized pipeline for media file acquisition, review, quality control, and transmission to destination locations. XMV is designed to demarcate the chaotic acquisition and processing environment from the curated destination storage. This simple concept allows media to be acquired from FTP and CIFS storage. Each media object can consist of numerous files that were registered as referring to one “final”. Key functionality is built around a dedicated player GUI that uses Matrox X.mio3 and DSX LE4 I/O hardware.

“All ZPR’s TV channels are automated with Matrox X.mio-based playout technology and the acquisition, QC and archive departments rely on Vowos’ XMV software,” said Artur Nowak, deputy IT director, ZPR Group. “As a company we’ve never been afraid to innovate. Our investment in Vowos' solutions is a major shift in how we produce and deliver content here at ZPR.”

“We pride ourselves on always giving our customers the latest technology available,” said Lukasz Janas, cofounder of Vowos. “Porting our XMV software to the latest generation, low-profile Matrox cards was quicker and easier than expected and lets us take advantage of more SDI outputs in a very small form factor. Matrox SDI I/O hardware is reliable and easily deployable in modern IT driven media environments.”

"Leading broadcast equipment manufacturers have long come to Matrox for our premium hardware, our dedicated applications engineering support and our superior SDK," said Alberto Cieri, senior director of sales and marketing, Matrox. "We congratulate Vowos on being among the first developers to deploy our latest hardware with their innovative software."

Matrox X.mio3 LP and DSX LE4 LP are low-profile, half-length SDI cards that offer up to eight reconfigurable I/Os, from SD to 4K. When configured with inputs, the cards are equipped with built-in frame synchronizers to generate clean SDI signals for any environment. X.mio3 LP provides multi-channel hardware processing to accelerate compute-intensive operations including motion-adaptive de-interlacing, up/down/cross scaling and mixing/compositing for all resolutions. Along with comprehensive Matrox DSX SDKs for Windows® or Linux® and unlimited Matrox applications engineering support, the cards provide the I/O flexibility OEMs need to get quickly to market with small-footprint channel-in-a-box systems, video servers, broadcast graphics systems, encoders, transcoders, multiviewers, switchers and other digital media equipment.

The Matrox DSX SDKs offer a common API across all Matrox DSX Developer Products providing a full set of powerful tools including versatile file reading/writing, memory management, streaming synchronization, and a large selection of software codecs and effects. A prototyping tool provides a graphical representation of all hardware components so developers can simulate and test their use cases within minutes, before writing a single line of code.

Matrox products will be demonstrated at the 2015 NAB Show (Las Vegas, April 13–16, booth SL5817). Developers may obtain more information by e-mailing
