Blackmagic Design's DaVinci Resolve Used for Colour Grading Support on "Call of Duty®: Black Ops II"

Fremont, CA - February 19, 2013 - Blackmagic Design today announced its DaVinci Resolve colour correction software was used for colour grading on Activision Publishing, Inc.'s record setting blockbuster Call of Duty®: Black Ops II.

Dedicated specifically to offering colour grading and other high end post production services for the gaming industry, post house Company 3 worked with Activision’s award winning game developer, Treyarch, throughout the colour grading process on the blockbuster title. Blackmagic Design’s Resolve software was used in combination with Company 3 Games' proprietary technology in concert with Treyarch to deliver feature film quality grading.

"We’re delighted that our Resolve software was chosen for use in such an epic title as Call of Duty: Black Ops II. There are some very powerful movie production techniques that games, like Call of Duty®, can now take advantage of," said Malte Wagener, Company 3's Vice President of Games. "And in the post production phase, colour grading is an extremely important example of one of these. We now offer publishers and developers the same kind of signature 'looks' that players can associate with a certain franchise in the same way audiences immediately recognize the visual style in popular and innovative movies."

As the world’s most advanced colour correction tool, DaVinci Resolve is the standard for high end post production workflows and colour correction in film, television programs, commercials and gaming.

About DaVinci Resolve
Blackmagic Design’s DaVinci Resolve is the world’s highest performance colour correction solution for Mac OS X, Windows and Linux computers. DaVinci Resolve supports more real time colour correction than any other system because it’s not limited by the performance of the computer it’s running on. DaVinci Resolve eliminates this performance barrier because it’s based on a cluster of high performance GPU cards, so all processing is always real time. DaVinci Resolve has the power of a true real time performance solution so handles complex colour grades even when using dozens of primaries, secondaries, Power Windows™, multi point tracking, blurs, and more. DaVinci Resolve provides incredible performance in a low cost solution which can be easily upgrade by adding extra GPUs for supercomputer power to handle 4K resolutions, stereoscopic 3D and real time grading direct from raw camera files such as Blackmagic Cinema Camera, ARRI raw, RED r3d and Sony F65 files which can be handled with ease.
